Findings suggest that each stage of Plath’s life was characterised by “parts-led” functioning as a result of transferred burdens, imperfect care-taking, existential anxiety and traumatic emotional experiences. Methodological strategies utilised to sort and integrate the wealth of publically-available socio-historical data on Plath included the analysis of psychobiographical indicators of salience according to the model of Irving Alexander and the data analysis matrix procedure of Robert Yin. Although she only published one collection of poems, “The Collosus”, and one novel, “The Bell Jar”, in her lifetime, the plethora of short stories, poems, journal entries and letters which were published after her suicide secured her status as a powerful and creative voice. Plath was purposively selected as subject since she has been proclaimed as one of the most renowned and influential voices in 20th century Anglo-American culture and literature. This study aimed to unveil Sylvia Plath’s (1932–1963) meaning-making narratives, within her life’s puzzle of parts, by utilising the Internal Family System (IFS) model of Schwartz. She’s spent half her life working for gloamists, magicians who manipulate shadows to peer into locked rooms, strangle people in their beds, or worse. #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black makes her stunning adult debut with Book of Night, a modern dark fantasy of shadowy thieves and secret societies.Ĭharlie Hall has never found a lock she couldn’t pick, a book she couldn’t steal, or a bad decision she wouldn’t make. ‘Black is a master at world-building.’ The New York Times Book Review ‘Dark, strange, thick with mystery and twists Book of Night is everything delicious and frightening I’ve come to expect from Holly Black.’ Leigh Bardugo, Sunday Times bestselling author of Ninth House This may seem complicated, but the third part is a narrative by the writer asked to re-write a better memoir of this wealthy financier.Andrew Bevel does not like the way he was portrayed in the novel. The best way to keep track of Steel’s impressive collection of novels is to work through them chronologically, however, readers do not have to have read her books in order to understand their narratives. Between writing, Steel has dedicated much of her time to the creation and management of several charity organizations. She has been decorated as an ‘Officer’ of the Order of the Arts and Letters in 2002 and as a ‘Chevalier’ of the Order of the Legion d’Honneur in 2014. Steel’s success has been acknowledged with several prestigious awards. In addition to writing adult fiction, she has also penned several children’s books and non-fiction pieces. She has enjoyed regular success ever since, with her novels being distributed across the world in multiple languages. Her second novel, Passion’s Promise, published three years later, saw Steel soaring up the bestseller lists and becoming a household name. In 1973, she released her first novel, Going Home, and achieved modest success. Steel started writing from an early age, penning poetry throughout her teenage years. Set in Kitimat, British Columbia, the story follows Jared (Oulette), an Indigenous teen who struggles to keep his dysfunctional family above water. Worth a credit? One million x YES it delivered everything and much much more than I was hoping for. Dual POV's, great narration that brought all the characters, drama and emotional turmoil to life during this fantastic listen. It's raw, dark, deep, chilling, thrilling, sexy, gritty and deliciously shocking as, once again, you're thrown headlong into King's very Alpha mind and his and Doe's life as they struggle desperately to hold on to each other through many twists, turns and unbelievable revelations. either gasping, reeling, melting, suffering, choking up, sighing or just freezing in sheer anticipation of what the Hell's going to be thrown at you next. And it's BANG straight into a pulse-pounding first chapter that sets the pace for the rest of the book because the gifted and talented T.M.Frazier throws so many things into the storyline that you're on the edge of your seat throughout. I went back and listened to the last few chapters of King before I started this listen to recap on the betrayal of both King and Doe's Father and I'm so glad I did because this book starts off exactly after those jaw-dropping events. |
